National Safe Work Month Week 3: Risk Management Fundamentals

15th Oct 2024 in

This week we're diving into one of the most crucial aspects of workplace safety which is the Risk Management Fundamentals.

Risk Management is all about proactively identifying hazards and implementing controls to eliminate or minimize them. The process involves four key steps, all underpinned by consultation:

  1. Identify Hazards: Engage with your team, inspect the workplace, and review incident reports to pinpoint potential risks.
  2. Assess Risks: Use a risk matrix to evaluate the likelihood and potential impact of identified hazards, prioritizing them for action.
  3. Control Risks: Aim to eliminate hazards first. If that's not possible, explore your risk control hierarchy, always consulting with your workforce.
  4. Review: Monitor and regularly assess the effectiveness of your control measures to ensure ongoing safety.

Remember, maintaining records of your risk management processes and outcomes is vital.

Let's work together to create a safer workplace!
