National Safe Work Month Week 2: Psychosocial Hazards

8th Oct 2024 in

Preventing psychological and physical harm at work are equally important. Encompassing World Mental Health Day, this week looks at how to identify and manage psychosocial hazards.

A psychosocial hazard is anything that can cause psychological harm. The most common Psychosocial Hazards are created by:

  • job demands
  • low job control
  • poor support
  • lack of role clarity
  • poor organisational change management
  • inadequate reward and recognition
  • poor organisational justice
  • traumatic events or material
  • remote or isolated work
  • poor physical environment
  • violence and aggression
  • bullying
  • harassment, including sexual harassment, and
  • conflict or poor workplace relationships and interactions

Trinity has several resources which can assist with managing these hazards and controlling the risks they can create, starting with our online 'Risk Management of Psychosocial Hazards' e-module:

We have also recently launched two 'health check' tools around Occupational Violence and Aggression, and Harassment (specifically sexual harassment and bullying).
